Tillies will open with a group exhibition curated by Barbara Cohen and Donna Pomponio featuring seventeen established local artists. Many of the participating artists have deep ties to Provincetown and have been working in the town for decades.

The exhibition brings together a wide range of artistic voices and media while responding to the recent changes in Provincetown’s gallery landscape. By offering a new venue for artists affected by recent gallery closures, Tillies hopes to help sustain the visibility of important creative voices within the community.

“This exhibition celebrates the depth of talent that has long defined Provincetown. These artists have been contributing to the cultural life of the town for many years, and this show offers an opportunity to experience their work together in a new setting.”

About Tillies
Tillies Art & Provisions will open May 1 at 512 Commercial Street in Provincetown’s East End, introducing a new gallery and gathering space dedicated to visual art and cultural programming. Located across from St. Mary of the Harbor, the newly revived venue seeks to reconnect the neighborhood with its artistic past while providing a flexible platform for contemporary artists and creative exchange.

The opening marks the return of a historic site to active use. The building once housed Tilley’s grocery store in the late nineteenth century, serving residents and visitors for generations. Reviving the Tillies name honors that history while reimagining the space for Provincetown’s current artistic landscape.

Conceived as both a gallery and a place for conversation and events, Tillies will host exhibitions, readings, music, and other cultural programs throughout the season. Programming will continue to evolve as the space responds to the interests of the local community.

“Our goal is to create a place where art, conversation, and community naturally come together,” said owner Thom Biggert, a longtime Provincetown resident. “The building has been dark and quiet for far too long, and we want to bring it back to life.”

Following the opening exhibition, Tillies will introduce a series of exhibitions, readings, and community events as the season unfolds. Additional programming will be announced throughout the summer as the space grows into its role as a gathering place for artists and audiences in Provincetown’s East End.

Tillies Art & Provisions aims to serve as a welcoming space where artists, residents, and visitors can come together around creativity and conversation. Through exhibitions and cultural programming, the project hopes to contribute to the vibrant artistic life that has long defined Provincetown.
