Dog In The Dunes

When author and artist Barbara E. Cohen received a two-week artist's residency to paint in a dune shack on Cape Cod's National Seashore, she intended to continue her work on a series of abstract paintings. Instead, Cohen found new inspiration in theantics or her 11 year old black Labrador retriever, Cabe. Cohen was compelled to photograph and paint Gabe as he followed her every step, creating this captivating series of mixed-media portraits.

Back by popular demand, this is a new, extended revision of the original Dog in the Dunes published in 1998. It's a captivating series of mixed-media portraits, which brings one closer to a dog lover's tribute to her aging but ever faithful companion, captured in the in the natural light, warm turquoise-blue skies, sea-grass greens and sand-pebble yellows of Provincetown's unique setting.
